Globalisation is the increasing connections between places and people across the planet, established through trade, politics and cultural exchanges, and helped by technology and transport.

What is Containerisation?
Containerisation is a system of freight transport for use in sea shipping that has reduced the transport costs of moving thousands of different goods across the globe.
How do unequal flows affect globalisation and global systems?
Unequal flows can lead to negative environmental impacts (on a global scale) e.g. flows of waste and pollution are not able to deal with these effectively.
What is the global shift to the east?
The global shift into China has mostly focused on manufacturing. This shift led to the economic re-emergence of the Asian region.
Benefits of the global shift to the East
Reduction in poverty, China has valuable road and railway connections, Better education.
Costs of the global shift to the East
The loss of productive farmland - over 3 million hectares. Pollution and Health problems. Over-exploitation of resources and resource pressure. China has an abundance of Oil and key metals.
What is Global Governance?
Global governance is the many ways countries or institutions manage their global affairs. This can include rules and regulations they set or agreements they have to follow.
