Q

how is filtrate formed in ultrafiltration?

give examples of small molecules:

A

small molecules are forced out into the bowmans capsule to form filtrate

examples of small molecules are: glucose, amino acids, water, ions such as Na+ and Cl-, urea

Q

what is not included in the filtrate? explain why

A

large molecules such as red blood cells are unable to filter through because they are too large to fit through gaps in capillary walls, basement membrane gaps and gaps in podocyte cells.
