selective reabsorption Flashcards

1
Q

define selective reabsorption

where does most of this occur?

A

the reabsorption of useful products from glomerular filtrate by the nephron.

selective reabsorption mostly occurs in the PCT. Some occurs in the Loop of Henle, DCT and collecting duct

Q

by what processes are the different contents of urine reabsorbed by the nephron?

A

FACILITATED DIFFUSION absorbs some amino acids and glucose
ACTIVE TRANSPORT absorbs some glucose, amino acids and ions such as Na+
OSMOSIS reabsorbs water
SIMPLE DIFFUSION reabsorbs urea
