What are possible causes for Cubital Tunnel Syndrome?
- Prior fracture
- Swollen joint
- Repetitive bending motion at the elbow
What are some symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome?
- Numbness in Digits 4 and 5
- Weakened grip
- Muscles atrophy
- Claw Hand
What is an Ulnar Nerve Transposition?
Moving the inflamed Ulnar Nerve more superficially from under the Medial Epicondyle
What is Patient Positioning for an Ulnar Nerve Transposition?
- Supine
- Operative arm on hand table
- Arm may be extended or flexed at elbow
- Tourniquet may be used on upper arm
Where is the incision made for an Ulnar Nerve Transposition?
Medial to the elbow above the Ulnar Nerve
What happens after dissecting the Ulnar Nerve from the Cubital Tunnel?
Umbilical tape is placed around the Ulnar Nerve to gain control
Where is the Ulnar Nerve transposed to?
Above medial epicondyle of Humerus to prevent impingement
How do we secure the Ulnar Nerve to its new position?
3-0 Vicryl on a SH needle
What suture do we use to close the Dermis of the elbow?
3-0 Vicryl on an SH needle

4-0 Monocryl on a PS2 needle
What are the dressings for an Ulnar Nerve Transposition?
- Steristrips
- 4x4s
- Webril
- 4 in. and 6 in. Ace Wrap
- Wrap from hand to above elbow
- Posterior splint may be used
