- Saline filled (filled on site)
- Silicon filled (more natural look/feel)
What is Patient Positioning for a Breast Augmentation?
- Supine with Arms in Arm Boards at 90 degrees
- Patient’s hip aligned with hinge part of OR bed
Why is important to make sure the patient’s arms are secured tightly?
We need to sit the patient up at 90 degrees to make sure the breast look normal from a standing position
What are the three types of incisions used for Breast Augmentations?
- Circumareolar incision
- Axillary incision
- Inframammary incision
What is the drawback of the Circumareolar incision?
- Limited by size of the areola
- Nipple is prone to bacterial infection
Where is the implant placed during a Breast Augmentation?
Under the Pectoralis Major muscle
