What are the 5 levels of Ulcerative Colitis
1st: Proctitis
2nd: Proctosigmoiditis
3rd: DIstal
4th: Extensive Colitis
5th Pancolitis
How to treat Acute Proctitis (stage 1)
1st Line:
Topical aminosalisylate
if no improvement after 4 weeks
2nd Line:
add an oral aminosalisylate
3rd Line:
Topical or oral corticosteroid for 4 to 8 weeks
How to treat Acute Proctosigmoiditis/Distal (stage 2/3)
1st Line:
Topical aminosalisylate
2nd Line:
Topical aminosalisylate/corticosteroid + High dose aminosalisylate
3rd Line:
oral aminosalisylate + oral corticosteroid for 4 to 8 weeks
How to treat Acute Extensive Ulcerative Colitis (stage 4)
1st Line:
Topical aminosalisylate + High dose oral aminosalisylate
2nd Line:
high dose oral aminosalisylate + oral corticosteroid for 4 to 8 weeks
How to treat Acute Pancolitis (stage 5) (severe)
Hospital
1st Line:
IV Hydrocortisone/methylprednisolone
2nd Line:
+ IV Ciclosporin / Influcimab
3rd Line:
Surgery
