UL Rehabilitation Flashcards
Specific Considerations in Rehab
Strengthen what is weak
Lengthen what is tight
Decrease pain and swelling
Increase ROM/mobility
Improve power/energy absorption
Improve cardiovascular capacity
Improve core strength/stability
Neuromuscular/motor control training - Dosage and Effect
Slow controlled movements. Quality over quantity.
Prevents injury and re-injury.
10-15min, 2-3 x week had the largest preventive effect.
Mobility - Dosage, stages of healing
Inflammatory phase: pain free movement.
Proliferation phase: touch into pain and resistance
Remodeling phase: into resistance, progress into stretching.
Slow and controlled.
3x day, 3x 10 reps (based on pt tolerance)
When should we do PROM, AAROM and AROM
PROM: acute inflammation, muscle/tendon protection, active movements not allowed.
AAROM/AROM: Increased motion, increased muscle activity, decreased edema.
