A

pour vinegar liberally over the area of sting for at least 30 secs to stop further nematocyst discharge

after vinegar use, it is unnecessary to wast time removing the tentacles.

retrieve the victim from the water and restrain if necessary (activity causes an increased heart rate and faster absorption of venom from muscle contraction

remarks on protection from jellyfish stings

A

virtually any clothing material is thick enough to protect from box jellyfish stingers

put a thick layer of petroleum jelly over exposed skin found in between clothing (e.g., between leggins and socks, sleeves and gloves

be careful about removing clothing. tentacles and stingers may be stuck on them
