UK political party's RP Flashcards
what is the difference between a one-party system and a dominant party system?
A one party system is when only one party is allowed to operate, where as a dominant system is when their are multiple party’s but only one has a realistic chance of winning think SNP and Scotland
What is a two party system?
It’s a less common system where their are two dominant party which swap power between each other.
How do you get a half party in a two and a half party system?
A half party is when a party in a two party system has a sizable amount of seats but not nearly enough to challenge the two main party’s and are as such thrust into a difficult position where they hold very little power compared to the two main party’s but they can become powerful when a coalition is needed think the Lib-Dems.
What is a three party system
much like a two party system but their are three party’s which have a chance to win.
what is a multi party system
A system where many party’s matter such as in proportional representation much like in Germany
