What 4 things would you examine in a patient presenting with incontinence?
1) Abdomen - assessing for a palpable bladder.
2) Pelvis - assess external genitalia.
3) Rectum - assessing tone, presence of masses.
4) Neurological - reflexes, sensory and motor assessment.
What are the most commonly used medications for OAB syndrome?
Antimuscarinic agents (e.g. tolteridone, oxybutynin).
What are some surgical options in stress incontinence? (4)
- Low tension vaginal tape
- Intraurethral injection
- Artificial sphincters
- Colposuspension
Is prolapse always a danger to health?
No; except in the case of 3rd degree uterine prolapse with cystocele when ureteric obstruction can occur.
