Risk x vulnerability

A
  • Tacloban lies in the centre of phillipeans, which makes it the most affected region in the world to hazards as tropical storms cross from pacific ocean to southeast asia
  • high density population = overcrowding. More fatalities during tropical storms
  • poorly constructed houses: likely to be destroyed by the natural hazard
+ houses are constructed on flat land near sea
  • makes people vulnerable tp storm surges
+ others have built on steep hill sides which makes the built environment prone to landslides.
