Causes of Typhoon Haiyan
A
- formed in the pacific ocean at the latitude of 7 degrees north
- sea temperature was over 26.5
- ocean was well over 60 metres deep
- coriolis effect started the storm spinning
- storm moved westwards passed little land to slow it down so it - kept gaining energy from the warm ocean
- winds up to 315km/h and lots of heavy rain
- low air pressure meant storm surges reached 6 metres in places which caused coastal flooding

- strong winds caused damage to buildings
- people killed/injured by falling debris
