Define LTM
A permanent store where limitless amount of information can be stored for long periods of time
Define STM
Temporary store where short amount of information is remembered for a short period of time
Fragile store
Information is easily lost
Define sensory memory
Immediate information remembered through the senses e.g. sight sounds taste touch
What are the key components of memory
Duration -how long memories can be held
Capacity -how much information is able to be remembered in memory at any time
Encoding -how information is represented e.g images, sounds and meaning

What are the three processes involved in memory
Encoding - the acquisition (gain) of knowledge
Storage - the retention of knowledge
Retrieval - to recall or remember
What are the 3 components of memory
Capacity -the amount of information that can be held in memory at any one time
Duration-the length of time that memory can be held
Encoding -the way in which information is represented in the memory store e.g sound,image or meaning
