Types of LTM a03 Flashcards
1
Q
How is patient HM an advantage to LTM
A
His procedural memory was intact after a severe epileptic attach but his explicit memories were inaccessible which suggests that there are separate stores in LTM
2
Q
Why is it bad that LTM theory is reliant on patient HM?
A
Parts of his brain may have been damaged and so wasn’t functioning as a a healthy brain would which means it shouldn’t be generalised to healthy brains
3
Q
What did Tulving find when he had participants have their brain scanned?
A
episodic memories were associated with the hippocampus, semantic memories were associated with the temporal lobe and procedural memories are associated with the cerebellum.
