What does monophasic vs. multiphasic mean?

- Monophasic means you get the same amount of hormones from each pill as you go through your pack
- Multiphasic means there is varying amounts of either estrogen or progestin within a 21 or 28 day cycle. Tend to have lower overall hormone use over the month but no evidence for less AE or advantage over monophasic
