Types And Properties Of Paper, Card And Boards Flashcards
How is paper made
Vegetable fibres in wood are carefully extracted to make a 95% water based pulp. This is then filtered to get the fibres and refined through rollers to achieve a basic form of paper
What are the factors of choosing a type of paper or card for a specific product

How do change the absorbency of paper
Add a sizing agent which increases the ability to accept ink
What affect does laminating have
Laminating layers of thinner card to make a board can give it a whole range of properties such as thickness and strength
How is paper measured
In gsm, grams per square meter.
Up to 220 gsm, after that its considered card
How is card measured
Card is measured in microns, 1mm is 1000 microns
What is virgin paper
