What precautions do we need to take when assessing PROM in neuro patients?
Care of the GHJ - most vulnerable in ER and extension
Speed/ velocity of Ax may affect tone
Environment may affect tone
What is muscle tone?
Muscles resistance to passive stretch during resting state
How do you reduce high tone?
Medication, positioning, stretching, PROM, increase BOS
How do you activate low tone?
Strengthen, reduce BOS, sitting/ standing, stimulating environment
How long to hold a stretch for a) elastic changes b) plastic changes?
30-60 seconds

What are the different PNF techniques for stretching?
Contract-relax
Reciprocal inhibition
Contract-relax-agonist contract
What are the indications for heat therapy?
Pain, spasms, increase blood flow, increase muscle flexibility
What are the indications for cold therapy?
Decrease pain, spasms, decrease blood flow, decrease oedema
