What is a Moment/Torque?
The moment of a force about a pivot is the
product of the force and the perpendicular distance from the pivot to the line of action of the force.

What is the Principle of Moments?
States that when a body is in equilibrium, the sum of clockwise moments about a pivot is equal to the sum of anticlockwise moments about the same pivot
What is the Centre of Gravity?
An imaginary point where the entire weight of the object seems to act
Where is the Centre of Gravity located?
At the centre for regular-shaped object
Can also be outside of the object
What is Stability?
A measure of an object’s ability to return to its original position
What is Stability affected by?
Position of Cg (lower Cg=more stable)
Base area of object (larger base area=more stable
