Step 1
Clean and disinfect the denture
Step 2
Insert the mandibular denture and check for stability, overextensios or underextensions. If unstable a new definitive impression is indicated
Four aspects of the denture should be assessed
Occlusal relations
Occlusal planes
Gingival matrix
Speech
Occlusal relations
RVD-OVD= FWS
- Vertical
- Antero-posterior or Sagittal
OVD should include RCP and ICP - Coronal intermaxillary relations
All denture posterior teeth and canines should meet simultaneously and evenly in RCP

Incisal plane
Left and right posterior occlusal planes
Plane of the mandibular teeth
Right and Left occlusal planes
They should be parallel to the alar-tragus line and instruments such as Fox occlusal plane guide may be used to confirm the plane
Plane of the mandibular teeth
Resting tongue should overle the lingual aspects of the lower teeth and this may be demonstrated to good effect at the trial denture stage to augument lower denture stability
Bilabial sounds
B, P, M
Insufficient support from lips by teeth or denture affceted by sagittal position of teeth and thickness of the labila flange
Labiodental sound

Linguodental sounds

tongue extends slightly between the upper and lower anterior teeth. Sound is made closer to the alveolus than tip of teeth
