Try In Flashcards
Various aspects of try in
Intra-oral
Extra-oral
Extra-oral examnition
1-master cast
2-trial denture base
3-articulater
4-teeth
In intra-oral denture try in to reduce the contaminition the denture should be
Sprayed with an anti-septic spray and placed under running water
How do we check the trial denture intra-oraly?
Sapperatly
1- max
2-md
3- mx-md together
What do we check in the Maxillary Trial Denture Base
1-labial and buccal extention
2-PPS area
3-retention
4-stability
5-occlusion
Examination of the extension:
Insertion of the Maxillary trial denture in its place w light presure and allow for functional movment of the cheeks and relase the denture if the denture displaced or moved then we need to adjust it
Types of extention
1-over-extention of the falnges:
Stretch the sulcus tissues when denture is inserted, leads to elastic recoil resulting in dislodgment of the denture, immediate denture displacement after its seating.
2- under-extention
Poor physical retention even wo any functional movment
Types of extension
A. Overextension of the flanges:
• Stretchthesulcustissueswhendentureisinserted, leads to elastic recoil resulting in dislodgment of the denture, immediate denture displacement after its seating.
B. Under extension :
leads to poor physical retention without any functional movement.
PPS
extended from the one hamular notch to the other along the vibrating line of the soft palate, and correctly placed on the master cast.
Retention
Retention of the trial dent is less than the complete dent why?
1-absence of PPS
2-poor adaptetion
3-mx dent is loosely placed
How do we test the mx Retention?
Placing the thumb and forefingers in the central incisors and lingual of the canine and push outwards and upward
How do we test the mx stabilty?
Place the ball of the index finger on the premolar and molar area on each side alternately (one at a time )
This pressure must be directed at right angles to the occlusal surface.
When testing the stabilty of the mx dent Displacement can occur dur to what
1-instabilty
2-wrapge of the dent base
3-post teeth set buccal to the alveolar ridge
The Denture base extension:
• The trial denture extension should be tested when patient opens half mouth opening to allow surrounding musculature be in an acceptable state of relaxation.
Usually mandibular denture retention is poor when compared to maxillary denture due to:
1- smol dent bearing area
2- difeclty in obtaining proper border seal
Testing of the Mandibular trial denture retention
Ask the paitent to place her tounge on the cingula of the anti teeth and pull the the teeth upward
Place presue on the canine on one side and watch the opposite retro molar pad
Neutral zone &Tongue space
If there is no enough space for the tounge then its called cramped tounge
Testing the tounge space
Ask the paint to rise their tounge and if its crampe the denture will rise with it
The cramped tounge maybe due to?
1- teeth set more lingualy
2-teeth shifted lingualy
3- too broad buccu-lingual width
Mandibular Occlusal Plain
The cusp tip of the 1st md premolar should be at a line with the lower lip
Theposteriorendoftheocclusalplaneshouldbe at the level of the two thirds of the retro molar pad in class I &II ridge height.
• Theposteriorendoftheocclusalplaneshouldbe at the level of the half of the retro molar pad in class III ridge height.
Checking the Maxillary and Mandibular Trail Dentures
1-VDO and rest
2- centric relation and protrution
3-esthetic and phontics
Closest Speaking Space
Is used to make sure that the VDO that we took is right
- s and counting 60-70
Verify the mounting & CR record
Soften the wax over the Bunsen burner
Place it onto the occlusal surfaces of the mandibular posterior teeth Tips for making centric record
a) Recline the chair back, this will help retruded the mandible
b) Stabilize mandibular base with your index fingers with the thumbs under
the mandible (bimanual technique)
c) Practice closing with the patient
d) patient gently close into the wax just short of tooth contact.
e) Remove and trim the record so that only the indentations from the cusp
tips are present
f) Place the new record onto the master casts
g) Loosen the centric locking screw If the maxillary teeth contact the
indentations exactly as they did in the mouth, you have proven that your original centric record was correct. The articulator must close in the hinge position without condylar displacement
When will do Remounting
1- error in the CR
2- erro in the VDO
Facial support affected by:
1- incisal edge posion
2-contor and thickiness of the libial flanges
3-gingival counor
4-Contourofthe vermillion border region.
Phonetic
Paitent should be able to say a clear F and V sounds with the lower lip touching the mx incisors
And S and Z with o teeth contact
