An english peditrician and psychonalyst introduced his concept of “False Self” and “True Self”.

-defensive organization formed by the infant because of inadequate mothering or failures in empathy. (A mask or persona)
-based on being completely obedient to the parents’ wishes
False Self
is said to be possessed by a person who may seem happy and comfortable in his environment but actually feels forced to fit in and constantly needs to adjust his behavior to adapt to the social situation.
Unhealthy False Self
-Flourishes in infancy if the mother is positively responsive to the child’s spontaneous expressions
-Sense of “self” based on “spontaneous authentic experience”
-An awareness that bodily functions are working.
