the triune god explained in.p Bible
Deutronomy
In this verse from Old testament the words ‘the Lord alone’ stress their is only one God
Through the teachings of Jesus in new testament christians believe that god is three persons
Matthew 3:16-17
Holy spirit is the love that unites the father and the son.here the holy spirit is represented by a dive, which comes from God the Father to stay with Jesus
The father is the ‘voice’ from heaven
The father calls Jesus his ‘beloved Son’
Galatians 4:6
“And because you are children ,God has sent the spirit of his son into our hearts, crying ‘Abba!Father!”
1. Christians are ‘children of God’ – they can have an
intimate relationship with God, whom they can call ‘Abba’
(Father).
2. The Holy Spirit is shared with all believers
God the father pours Holy Spirit into Christians heart. This love unites Father and Son, and fills person with grace
The nicene creed
God the father
‘I believe in one god the father almighty, maker of heaven and earth’-God the father is creator of all things
God the son
‘Consubstantial with the father’- no distinction in nature between father and son
‘By Holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin Mary, and became man’-son took limitations of human nature to become Jesus as Jesus mother was conceived by Holy spirit
‘He suffered death and was buried and rose again on third day’-the son became human out of love to save the, from being seperated by God by sin. Suffered and died as a human being.
God holy spirit
‘I believe in one Holy spirit, the Lord and giver of life’- The holy Spirit gives life to all things
‘Who proceeds from father and son’-comes from both father and son, uniting them in love
‘Who with father and son is Adored and glorified’- is equal in majesty and power to father and son
‘Spoken through prophets’-inspires people to let them know the will of God
The trinity and creation (gensis 1)
‘God created the heavens and earth’-word ‘God’ refers to Father, the father created the universe
‘Wind from God’ can also be translated to ‘breath’ or ‘spirit’. Shows that Holy spirit was involved in creation
God created the universe with power of his word. Christians interpret this to son of God (the word) ‘let their be light’
Influences of the trinity today
-the life of trinity flows from the love and holy spirit of the father and son for each other which is holy spirit
-christians believe that love flows outwards into lives and hearts of all believers as grace
Holy spirit is the love of the son and father-it enters peoples loves and grace-and inspires them to show love to others so christians belive this is their duty

Jesus instructions ‘go therefore make dsiciples of all nations’ and ‘baptising them in name of father, son and holy spirit’

-so the son is continually, eternally coming from father
The holy spirit is the love that unites the father and son
This continual act of father begetting the son, and eternal love between them-constantly flows outwards into whole of creation
Son came to earth to bring redemption to save them and bring back relationship with the father so son come from father to save humanity
The holy spirit, God’s love, is guiding constantly believers towards the father
Once redemption is complete, through help of father and son and holy spirit, all things will be brought back to God

Traditional and spontaneous prayer
Traditional
prayer
• Set words, used for
generations
• Examples: Our Father,
Hail Mary
Strengths:
• Comforting to use familiar
words
• Don’t have to find the
right words - can be more
open to God
• Your mind can go deeper
than the words
Jesus told the disciples
to pray the Lord’s
prayer
• We may not pray
correctly if we don’t use
traditional prayers
• We can worship together
using traditional prayers
- strengthens the
Christian community
Spontaneous prayer
• No set words
• Guided by the Holy
Spirit
Strengths
• More sincere … personal
concerns
• Comes from the heart
• Develops a personal
relationship with God
• Set prayers can lose
their meaning – they
can become empty
words
• You allow the Holy
Spirit to guide you in
spontaneous prayer
• Spontaneous prayers
are relevant and
personal
• Jesus offered
spontaneous prayers
