Q

AILERON TRIM Switches

A
  • 2 switches control aileron trim
  • changes neutral point of the aileron feel and center unit - this movement goes to aileron PCUs
  • FORWARD SWITCH:
    • controls aileron trim DIRECTION
  • AFT SWITCH:
    • supplies a ground for the motor
  • the control wheel will move if the AP is not engaged
  • on control column it shows amout of trim - each ‘UNIT’ is 6 degrees
  • aileron PCU movement also goes to the spoiler mixer which can move the flight spoilers if enough trim is added
  • there must be hydraulic pressure for the trim input to move the ailerons
  • do NOT use aileron trim with AP engaged - the AP overpowers the trim until AP disconnected then a severe change in roll

Q

RUDDER TRIM Controls

A
  • AC motor repositions neutral point of the rudder feel and centering mechanism
    • rudder pedals are displaced and rudder is deflected
  • Rudder trim can operate at all times when electrical power is available

Rudder Trim Control.

  • spring loaded to neutral
  • Rotate - electrically trims rudder in desired direction

Rudder Trim OFF Flag.

  • Illuminated (amber - in view) - rudder trim indicator is inoperative
  • this can be caused by no normal AC power (on LEFT side of tape)

Q

STABILIZER TRIM OVERRIDE Switch

what does the stab trim switch in the override position do? (1sp)

A

[1sp: it will override the control column cutout switches. under the control columns and under the floor are 2 microswitches that prevent us from applying a force on the control column and then trim in the opposite direction.

example. if we rotate the a/c and the control column jams on the climbout, we will not be able to trim forward because there is an aft pressure on the column. By moving switch to override position you are overriding the control column cutout switch that will allow us to trim opposite to the force that we are applying to the control column]

Override.

  • bypasses the column cutout switches (sensors)
  • all trim functions will operate in this position regardless of control column position
  • if the stab is jammed you may be up against the column cutout switch (opposite force)
  • use this OVRD position to enable use of MAIN ELECTR STAB TRIM again.
  • bypasses the control column actuated stab trim cutout switches to restore power to the STAB TRIM switches

Norm.

  • guarded position
  • normal operating position to ensure normal operation of the column actuated cutout switch
