CARGO FIRE PANEL Flashcards

1
Q

EXTINGUISHER TEST Lights

A

Illuminated (Green):

  • Cargo Fire TEST switch is pushed and squib continuity is NORMAL (between panel and squibs)
  • when TEST switch is pushed a low circuit signal is sent through the FWD and AFT squibs

Q

CARGO FIRE TEST Switch

A

PUSH: and hold

  • tests circuits for both FWD and AFT cargo fire detector loops
  • sends a test signal to the loops and verifies continuity of the squibs
  • fire bell will sound
  • MC lights DO NOT illuminate for the test

FAULT:

  • if there is a squib fault the associated green light will not come on

TEST INDICATIONS:

  • Bell
  • FIRE WARN lts illuminate
  • EXT FWD and AFT green lights come on
  • FWD and AFT red switch lights come on
  • amber DISCH light comes on
  • [DETECTOR FAULT] amber light will NOT come on if its a good test

Q

DET SELECT Switches

A
  • 3 positions: A - NORM - B
  • 2 switches: FWD and AFT

NORM:

  • loops A & B are active (dual loop design similar to OVHT/FIRE loops)
  • to active smoke must be detected by A detector in loop A AND loop B (any detector in both loops - they do not have to be a pair) before alarm sounds

A / B:

  • associated loop is active
  • if any detector in the associated loop detects smoke an alarm will occur

Notes.

  • if one detector fails in a loop it will automatically change to single loop system
    • in single loop mode: alarm will set off if only ONE detector senses smoke

Q

CARGO FIRE ARM Switches & Lights

A

Switches.

  • PUSH -
    • FWD ARMED: extinguisher ARMED for FWD cargo compartment (white ARMED light)
    • AFT ARMED: extinguisher ARMED for AFT cargo compartment (white ARMED light)
    • cannot see the word ARMED unless you push the switch

Warning Lights.

  • Illuminated (red): FWD / AFT
    • at least ONE detector in EACH LOOP detects smoke (if in NORM)
    • if down to a single loop - at least one detector on the remaining loop detects smoke (A or B)
    • Master FIRE WARN lights and Bell sounds
    • when you push the FWD / AFT switch you are arming the squib - then you push DISCH to fire the bottle

Indications of a Cargo Fire.

  • Fire Bell
  • both FIRE WARN lights
  • FWD/AFT cargo fire warning light(s) illuminate

Q

DISCH Light and Switch

A

Light.

  • Illuminated (amber): bottle has discharged
  • NOT press to test (only tested by the Master Dim and Test Switch)
  • may take up to 30 seconds to illuminate
  • Halon 1301 pressurized with nitrogen

Switch.

  • PUSH: if system is armed the bottle will discharge
  • it is a HRD system (high rate discharge) to get the fire OUT
  • only 1 bottle for both cargo bays
  • provide fire suppression for 60 minutes (flt time) plus 15 min (fire suppression for missed appr or unloading etc)
  • 2 nozzles in the ceiling of fwd cargo bay and 3 in the aft ceiling
