Question 1

FREQ TRANSFER Switch and Indicator

Answer 1

Transfer Switch.

• Push: transfers STBY freq to Active and Active goes to STBY

Freq Indicator.

• ACTIVE and STANDBY frequencies
• 6 digit freq in 8.33 khz spacing
• displays DATA if radio is in DATA MODE

Freq Selector.

• inputs go to the STANDBY frequency
• first digit is always a 1
• outer selector - 2nd and 3rd digits (1 mhz increments)
• inner selector: 4-6 digits (8.33 khz)
• with ACARS tuning above max or below min displays DATA

OFFSIDE TUNING Light

Answer 2

• Illuminated (white):
  
  • the radio associated with this panel is being tune by another tuning panel - OR -
  • this panel is used to tune another radio not normally associated with the panel
    
    • i.e. someone is tuning your radio.. or you are tuning theirs
    • 2 tuning panels are controlling one radio

OFF Switch / HF Sensitivity Control / VHF Test Switch

Answer 3

OFF Switch:

• PUSH to disconnect panel from radio (turns panel OFF or ON - hold for 2 seconds)

HF Sensitivity Control:

• adjust sensitivity of ON SIDE HF receiver

VHF TEST Switch:

• PUSH - removes auto squelch feature (you can hear background noise)
• this also improves reception of weak signals

RADIO TUNING Switches & Lights

OFF Switch / Light /

AM Switch / Light

Answer 4

OFF Switch:

• PUSH -
  
  • selects the VHF or HF radio to be used

OFF Light:

• Illuminated (white) - indicates selected radio

AM Switch:

• PUSH -
  
  • sets the AM or USB (upper side band) mode for the selected HF
  • HF - AM or HF - USB

AM Light:

• Illuminated (white) - HF AM is selected
