Trilaminar Germ Disc Flashcards
1
Q
Steps of Gastrulation
A
- Primitive Streak formation:
- >Primitive node on EPIBLAST signals streak formation - Invagination
- ->folding in creates endoderm - Invagination continues creating Mesoderm (somatic cells)
- Remaing Epiblast cells form ectoderm
- Notochord formation
- ->prenotochordal cells pass through streak going from hypo to endo to meso derm
2
Q
Anterior Visceral Endoderm
A
signals genes for head formation. established before gastrulation
3
Q
GF beta
A
est. cranial end/maintains notochord
4
Q
BMP-4
A
GF secreted during BILAMINAR as MESODERM is forming to create intermediate and lateral mesoderm
–>VENTRILIZES
5
Q
Formation of the notochord
A
- prenotochord cells pass through primitive streak to establish notochordal plate to intercalate the endoderm
- notochordal plate separates from endoderm (which replays hypoblast as bottom layer)`
6
Q
Chordin
A
Activated by Goosecoid.
–>Noggin and Follistatin (secreted by node)
- -> all, antagonize BMP-4.
- ->DORSALIZES MESODERM
7
Q
Noggin and Follistatin secreted by Notochord:
A
create neural induction in cranial region
8
Q
Brachyury T gene product
A
DORSALIZES mesoderm
9
Q
placental villus
outward to inward
A
3rd week: Primary villi -->2 trophoblastic layers Secondary Villus: -->extraembryonic MESODERM core Tertiary villus -->trophoblastic layers depleated -->fetal capillaries from mesoderm go through connecting stalk and chorionic plate to contact villus capillaries
