occurs when inflammation or nodules develop in flexor tendon sheath of a finger causing pain and difficulty in movement

A

mostly idiopathic
rheumatoid arthritis
diabetes

what are features of trigger finger?

A

more common in thumb, middle or ring finger
initially stiffness + snapping when extending a flexed digit
nodule may be felt at base of affected finger

what is management of trigger finger?

A

steroid injection
finger split can be applied afterwards
if not responded consider surgery
