central canal is narrowed by tumour, disc prolapse or other degenerative changes
compression of nerve roots- by ventral disc bulging, oestephyte formation at dorsal facet + ligamentum flavum hypertrophy

A
back pain
neuropathic pain
symptoms mimick claudication
pain improves on sitting
pain improves on leaning forward or walking uphill
