What is the primary general role of at RAF TrgO?
To help maximise the potential of RAF personnel in order to ensure the service delivers its operational capabilities.
What roles may TrgO’s be engaged in?
A wide variety of roles, including:
- Providing specialist training advice & consultancy
for individual and collective training
- Course design
- Governance and assurance through developing
programs to maximise HP
- Operationally vital employment in flying training
development
- Parachute Training for the UK’s airborne Forces
- DSERE Training Instructor
- Force Development (inc. AT Instructor)
What future training may be provided and what could this lead to?
As a training specialist, there are a plethora of opportunities for ongoing personal and professional development:
- My first tour and additional training will equip me for
more demanding assignments. For example:
*Manage full scope training activity
*Work as a Specialist advisor for a specific aircraft
type
*Train as a Parachute Jump instructor, responsible for
the parachute training of the UK’s airborne forces - Work towards further qualifications.
- Develop management skills through a series of
residential and distance-learning courses (Accredited
by international bodies such as the CMI) - To provide a fresh challenge and enable me to
develop my skills as a specialist, I will change posts
every 2-3 years. - 6 weeks AT every year
What are your career prospects once joining?
- I will be given an initial commission of 12 years and
may be selected to serve a pension earning
commission of 20 years. - Promotion to the rank of Flt Lt. is on a time
served/satisfactory service basis after 31/2 years from
completing IOT. Promotion to Sqd. Ld. and above is by
competitive selection.
