What does it involve?

A

The constant monitoring of UK airspace to identify rouge aircraft and appropriately respond to the threat via the deployment of Typhoons from RAF Lossimouth and/or Conningsby to intercept and escort the aircraft north, out of the UK’s area of interest.

Command structure?

A

Detection - Air Command (RAF High Wycombe)

  • –> If sufficient to scramble, pass on to Control and Reporting Centres (CRCs) at RAF Scampton and Boulmer
  • –> Relay message to pilots at RAF Lossiemouth
  • –> Pilots at Conningsby put on standby
