Norway Maple (features)
3 lobes
each lobes has 3-5 little spark points on it
palmately veined– 3-5 main veins
two sharp points that come out horizontally/angled downward from the petiole

palmatley veined– 5 central veins
toothed
upside down rhombus shaped leaf scar with 3 bundle scars inside
Sugar Maple (features)
3 lobes
a curved lobe that sticks out horizontally from the petiole (lips shape) (rounded down)
generally less sharp edged that other maples
comes to points with thin/slender tips (think of a column)
palmately veined
Silver Maple (features)
5 lobes tall one in middle, slimmer two on side two small lobes pointing off horizontally/downward from petiole more slender and longer than wide palmately veined back is paler and has the silver component enough pointed to be almost toothed very edgy and less soft/rounded
Boxelder (features)
ash-leaf maple compound leaf/pinnately leaflets oppositely arranged each leaflet is pinnately veined teardrop shaped leaves comes to long point at the tip slightly toothed/ridged up the sides wide at base and narrow at top
Red Maple (features)
super (doubly) toothed
pointed ragged appearance
three distinct lobes with a small point/lobe extending horizontal with the petiole
lobes comes to points at tip
small lobe that is horizontal curves downward/is rounded like lips or a chin
