“A procedure to remove waste products” ; such as urea, creatinine, and excess water from the blood of a patient whose kidneys are no longer functioning.
Dialysis
aka “Kidney transplant”. A grafting of a donor kidney, from either a living or non-living donor to replace the recipient’s failed kidney.
Renal Transplantation
Most common kidney stone treatment. A high energy ultrasonic waves travelling through water or gel used to break stone into fragments.
Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL)
A surgical removal of a nephrolith through a small incision in the back.
Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy
A surgical removal of a ureter.
Ureterectomy
A surgical fixation of bladder to the abdominal wall
Cystopexy
A surgical removal of a part or all of the prostate gland
