Any disease of the kidney
Nephropathy
A kidney disease “resulting from late-stage diabetes mellitus”
Diabetic Nephropathy
The inability of one or both kidneys to perform their functions
Renal Failure
aka “Uremic poisoning”. Occurs when urea & other waste products normally secreted in urine are stored in the blood due to renal failure.
Uremia
A “progressive loss of function of the kidneys” over months or years. Can be life-threatening.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
“Excessive fluid accumulation in body tissues” that can be a symptom of Nephrotic Syndrome and other kidney diseases.
Edema
Inflammation of kidney(s)
caused by:
> toxins
>infection
> autoimmune disease
Nephritis
Acute pain the kidney area caused by a blockage during the passage of a kidney stone
Renal colic
aka “Calculus”. An abnormal mineral deposits that form within the body and are named for the organ or tissue where they are located.
