Engagement- active involvement with client in determining why tx was sought. Defining roles and expectations
Assessment- clients provides info problem
Planning- defines problem in terms of solution, client and sw develop understanding of clients preferred lifestyle. Goals are developed from this and specific action plans to include resources who will do what etc.
Intervention-issues brought forth in terms of goal completion. Progress made is based off client report.
Evaluation- self monitored progress or lack of. Assess if new goals or objectives should be set.
Termination-sw and client reflect on what has been achieved.
Cris intervention 3 stages
- Saftey and Stabilization
- Making sure basic needs are in place (Maslow)
- Assessing risky bx i.e. SA, Suicidal bx, self harm etc
- cannot engage in crisis intervention until safety is secured
- case management, housing, health services, transportation, and other supports
- Mourning and Remembrance
- survivor acknowledges and speaks about what happened
- address what is and is not remembered to start creating healing story
- psycheducation about trauma may be provided
- grief may be experienced - Reconnection and Reintegration
- committment to move fwd
- Client moves from survivor into new identity
- integration of healthy copy and self care strategies
Crisis is?
Interruption of homeostasis with failed coping mechanisms
Which data determines whether an event is traumatic?
Subjective data- clients experience and perception
Having client explain the meaning of an event to them is crucial
SOAP format
Subjective- how client is doing since last meeting
Objective-medical info i.e. blood pressure, lad tests, etc OR legal issues, failing in school, etc.
Assessment-Collab of subjective and objective info
Plan- what will be done as a result of things outlined in assessment
Client monitoring is what type of data
Subjective
Sw should use egalitarian and collaborative approaches.
What is egalitarian?
Equality and equal tx across gender, relgion, economic status, political beliefs, etc
5 roles in sw practice
- Advocate: SW speaks on behalf of client when others will not listen or when clienys are unable to do so. Responsibility toadvocate for disempowered individuals.
- Broker: identify, link, and locate client to needed services.
- Change Agent: participates as a group or organization to improve services. Assists in planning change based on problem, and does so on multiple levels.
- Counselor: improves social functioning. Helps client articulate needs, clarify problems, explore resolutions, and apply interventions.
- Mediator: dispute resolution, in order to reconcile differences. Role is neutral
PIMARY ROLE OF SW IS TO ACT AS A RESOURCE:ASSUMES VARIOUS ROLES DEPENDING ON NATURE OF CLIENTS PROBLEMS

Sw should not rely on chronological age but use engagement and intervention strategies that are appropriate given clients developmental functioning
