- Sporozites from the mosquito enter human blood
- Invade hepatocytes
- Form schizonts which multiply and mature into merozoites
- Lyase hepatocytes releasing merozoites systemically
- Invade and lyse RBCs
- Some merozoites become gametocytes which remain in the blood stream for several days and infect other mosquitos
