What are three treatable causes that must be simultaneously identified and reversed in traumatic arrest
-Hypovolemia (Deadly bleeding)
-Hypoxemia
-Tension Pneumothorax (Obstructive Shock)
When is discontinuation appropriate in blunt traumatic arrest?
-Early DC orders are to be obtained once all treatable causes have been address without ROSC.
What should. the primary focus of care providers be when attending a traumatic cardiac arrest?
-Hemorrhage control through tourniquets,direct pressure and wound packing.
When should early conveyance be considered in traumatic arrest
-Penetrating chest/abdominal trauma
-Initial rhythm is PEA
-Loss of pulse to trauma centre time is less than 15 minutes (20 mins if in Van-costal)
What is the preferred site for needle thoracentesis?
5th intercostal. space mid axillary line.
For patients presenting in traumatic arrest with an initial rhythm of Wide/slow PEA less than 40, or Asystole what is the likely clinical outcome
-Outcome likely to be poor, DC orders should be considered early.
