Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
A
- DC: Actual or threatened death or serious injury or sexual violence- may be direct, witnessing or learning of and event to a close family member or friend.
- Onset- usually within 3 months but anytime in future is possible, young adults fulnerable or people who have life threatening medical events
- Treatment (forASD too) psychotherapy and meds

Acute Stress Disorder
A
- Exposure to traumatic stressor- death injury sexual violence
- multiple PTSD symptom categories
- duration is 3 days to 1 month after trauma exposure

Adjustment Disorder
A
- DC- disproportional emotional/behavioral symptom due to identifiable stressor, acute onset and brief duration (develop within 3 months of exposure and resolve within 6 months of termination.)
- should not meet criteria of MDD
- Treatment: crisis intervention, hospitalization, psychotropic medications

A
- 4 Intrusion symptoms can develop at anytime -
- dreams
- recollections
- feeling event reoccur
- psychological or physiological distress when encounters symbols
- avoidance symptoms
- Negative alteration in cognistion and mood-
- negative beliefs or expctations
- negative emotional states
- inability to experience positive emotion
- diminihsed interest participation in activities
- detachment estrangement from others
- dissocioative amnesia
- alteration in arousal or activity
- sleep disturbance
- irritable and angry outbursts,
- reckless aor self destructive behavior
- concentrations problems,
- hypervigilance
- exaggerated startle repsonse
