Panic Disorders
- recurrent unexpected panic attacks for at least 1 month.
- Fear future panic attacks or a significant change in behavior related to the attacks. explained by classical conditioning
Trigger: unexpected
Panic Attack
EDC-Intense fear with somatic or cognitive symptoms, as an abrupt onset with episode peak within minutes.
-Explained by classical conditioning
Agoraphobia
-excessively and persistently fears greater than or equal to 2 of the following:
- -Using public transportation
- -Being in open spaces
- -Being in enclosed spaces
- -Standing in line or being in a crowd
- -Being outside of the home alone.
Trigger: fear that escape may be difficult. can be diagnosed with panic disorder or stand alone
Specific phobia
Trigger: fear of an object or situation-
5 subtypes Animal, Natural Environment, Situational, Blood Injection Injury, or other
Is classically conditioned response
Social Anxiety Disorder
fear of negative evaluation
, if you have fear of public speaking, it is performance only.
- Specific Type-certain social situations
- Genearlized type- most social situaitons Trigger- a social or performance setting
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
uncontrolled anxiety about multiple events and have greater than 3 of the following-
- restless
- on edge
- decreased concentration
- muscle tension
- fatigued
- irritability
- insomnia
- don’t diagnose if you can explain it a different way. typically start at a young age and are chronic and are usually first seen because of physical symptoms.
Trigger- Anything.
