What are key steps you should take when approaching a transposition question?

A
  1. The key signature
  2. Identify accidentals that aren’t apart of the key signature.
  3. Identify the final note, to identify a major or minor key.

What is transposing using scale degrees?

A

You write under a melody each scale degree the notes are from the scale it is written from. Once you transpose the key signature, you write the melody according to the scale degrees.

What is transposing using intervals?

A

Considering the distance between certain notes. You will need this formula when dealing with accidentals.

You need to consider the number of letter names and number of semitones in the interval of transposition. Each note needs to be to be transposed UP 5 letter names and 7 semitones.
