- Its made up of smooth muscle and elastic fibres
The smooth muscle withstands high pressure of blood
the elastic fibres allow the wall to stretch and recoil.

One cell thick to allow short diffusion path
Gaps and pores allow fenestrations between cells.

A
Allows exchange between blood and cells of oxygen which is delivered to cells
and carbon dioxide/urea which is removed from cells.
