Where is a PD catheter placed?
A
In the rectovesical (males) or rectouterine (females) pouch.

What should patients also be consented for with PD cath placement?
A
Possible hernia repair, possible adhesiolysis. Hernias should be fixed to prevent incarceration of bowl or catheter in hernia defect.

How soon can PD cath be used?
A
1-2 weeks, but 4-6 weeks if hernia was repaired during placement.

What are the symptoms of liver disease that are caused by altered metabolism?
A
Palmar erythema, spider angiomata, gynecomastia, testicular atrophy, encephalopathy.
