Translocation Flashcards
1
Q
Translocation Steps
A
- Companion cells move H+ ions into source (AT)
- Created conc gradient. H ions diffuse back into companion cells with sucrose (facilitated diffusion)
- Sucrose moves into sieve tubes
- Lowers water potential. Water enters from xylem and increases hydrostatic pressure.
- Water and sucrose forced down phloem.
- Sucrose removed at sink. Increased water pot so water moves out. Increased hydrostatic pressure .pressure gradient created.
2
Q
Translocation deffinition
A
Mass flow of sucrose in phloem tissue form source to sink.
