Transformations of graphs Flashcards
What happens if u do something to the whole function?
y = f(x) <– the f(x)
Graph will move vertically
What happens if u do something to the value of x?
y = f(x) <— the (x)
Graph will move horizontally
y = f(x) + a
or
y = f(x) - a
what it do?
Graph move up [0, a] (vector style type shi)
or
Graph move down [0, -a]
y = af(x) <– multiplying whole function by a
what it do?
Stretch in y-direction by a
soooo
All coordinates times by a
y = -f(x)
what it do?
Reflection in x-axis
y = f(x+a)
what it do?
Translation by [-a, 0] (still vector type shi)
but basically
goes backwards in the x axis
y = f(ax)
what it do?
Stretch in x-direction
scale factor 1/a
I assume all coordinates divided?
y = f(-x)
what it do?
Reflection in y-axis
Although that’s like the “main” fundamentals, we probably do need to see some questions, feel like its a whole ass curve ball
Probably
