Coordinate geometry Flashcards
And what do u use here?
y = mx + c
(m = mid point/gradient)
How to find gradient?
e.g. A (3, 2) & B (5, 1)
Gradient = 1-2/5-3 = -1/2
In other words
Gradient = y2 - y1/x2 - x1
How to find if points perpendicular?
M1 x M2 = -1 <– must equal -1
What does it mean if it’s perpendicular tho?
90 degrees to each other.
Both points 90 degrees to each other.
Right angle….
How to find if both points parallel?
They have to be the same gradient
But what does it mean if it’s parallel?
Lines side by side of each other.
Not really touching like them perpendiculars.
… or not?
How to find distance between both points?
[(x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2] [] = square root
How to find mid point tho?
(x2 + x1)/2 <— X
(y2 + y1)/2 <— Y
Remember the question where u put it in form of:
ax + by + c = 0
(which is after u gain their m.ps, gradients, find out if they parallel or perpendicular, or distance?, or the equation)
What must u be aware of?
No fractions in it.
How to find equation of 2 points?
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
m = gradient
Finding equation of 2 points, what to be aware of?
The gradient shall not have a fraction therefore u times it on both sides
