Coordinate geometry of a circle Flashcards
1
Q
What’s the usual equation for circle geometry?
A
(x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2 = r^2
2
Q
What is the normal?
A
Straight line perpendicular to the tangent
Ig it goes down to the centre of circle maybe?
3
Q
What is a tangent?
A
A line that touches a circle at only one point
4
Q
From the beginning tho, how do u find the equation of a circle?
A
1) Get its centre (prob have to find mp possibly)
2) Get its radius (use pythagoras theorem, the radius is the hypotenuse)
3) sub into (x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2 = r^2
