TRANSFER vs a LIFT difference?

A

TRANSFERS:
- Not a lot of strength, all about technique
- Goal of treatment to be able to do on own
- The one big thing we look for at discharge!!
(very big goal!!!!)

LIFTS:

  • Individual does not/cannot participate
    (eg) mechanical lift

  • Standby in case needed
  • Verbal cuing, set up assist
  • Close guarding, Contact guarding

What are the 3 levels of ‘1 or 2 person assistance’?

A

MINIMAL:
- Physical cuing, minimal hands on support

MODERATE:
- Requires significant support due to physical defects

MAXIMAL(Always with 2 people!!!!):

  • Requires nearly full support
  • Weight bearing but not able to control or sequence the movement due to physical defects
