Performing ROM & ResROM Flashcards
If a client can do AROM against gravity, what is the next step?
Resistive ROM
If a client cannot lift against AROM what should you try?
AROM - gravity eliminated
If a client cannot lift AROM in gravity eliminated what are the next steps?
Passive ROM
- Then progress to ResROM - gravity eliminated
- Then progress to AROM - with gravity
How is PROM performed?
We move client’s joint
- Slow, full range movement
- Hold position at end of range
- Support the joint proximally & distally
What is the goal of ResROM?
To build joint stability
To build strength to progress to AROM
What are the 3 steps of ‘Functional ROM Assessment’?
STEP 1:-
AROM first against gravity (gravity-eliminated if necessary)
- Ask to move through full ROM
STEP 2:-
PROM to stabilize joint
- To move slowly through normal range
STEP 3:-
AAROM for client’s best effort
- Client starts movement then we assist to complete full ROM
