Indication
A
Actual or suspected severe haemorrhage in:
Injured patients triggering local major trauma centre
Patients with time critical injury where significant internal or external haemorrhage is known or suspected
PPH after administration of uterotonic drug and patient continues to bleed
Bleeding due to disorders of obstetric origin

Action
A
Anti fibrinolytic which reduces the breakdown of blood clots

Contraindications
A
Known previous anaphylactic reaction
Bleeding starting more than 3hrs ago
Obvious resolution of haemorrhage
Isolated head injury
PPH before administration of uterotonic drug
Critical interventions required (airway etc)

Hypersensitivity Hypotension Nausea Vomiting Diarrhoea Arterial or venous embolism at site
