Indication
A
Bradycardia in the presence of any of the following:
Absolute bradycardia (<40bpm) Bradycardia following a ROSC BP under what would be expected for age Inadequate perfusion causing confusion Paroxysmal ventricular contractions

Action
A
Enhances AV conduction
Increases heart rate by blocking vagal activity in sinus bradycardia, 2nd and 3rd degree heart block
Revereses effect of vagal overdrive

Contraindications
A
Do not give to treat bradycardia in hypothermic patients

Side effects
A
Tachycardia Confusion Hallucinations Dry mouth Do not give small doses as may cause paradoxical bradycardia
