Training Pyramid Flashcards
Training pyramid
- rhythm (energy and tempo) 2. Suppleness (elasticity and relaxation) 3. Contact (connection and acceptance of bit) 4. Straightness (improved alignment and balance) 5. Impulsiveness (energy and thrust) 6. Collection ( engagement and self-carriage) All connected - interdependence
Neutral Posture
Mechanically efficient - doesn’t strain, ready for movement in any direction Goal, best prepared to respond to anything Doesn’t impeded horse movement Safer
Influence horse - positively
Use body to give commands Stay neutral (follow horse movement)
Influence horse - negatively
Not balanced Send confusing commands Block movement Overuse other areas, cause strain injuries (shin splint)
Seated neutral posture
Line from ear ->shoulder ->hip socket -> ankle bone Sit directly over horses centre of gravity Evenly balanced from side to side do saddle (seat and thigh)
Suppleness
Lack of tension and rigidity Strength Core strength
Riders Anatomy
- Head, eyes and neck 2. Shoulders, upper body and upped arm 3. Lower back 4. Seat 5. Lower arm and hands 6. Lower leg and heel
Optimal biomechanics
Rider and horse->balance and alignment Balance = longitudinal ( front to back) and lateral (side to side) Centre of gravity =point in body where mass is equally distributed ( below belly button)
